news what is the lagoon?
Latest Lifesaver

The Bolinas Lagoon is an internationally significant ecological resource. Its 1,100 acres of tidal estuary include several increasingly rare habitats that support a rich biodiversity, including several rare, threatened and endangered species.

The lagoon's long term health and survival is now itself endangered due to a history of human development over the past 150 years.

Because the lagoon's habitats are so valuable, its continued viability as a functioning ecosystem should be preserved. The Bolinas Lagoon Ecosystem Restoration Project is intended to do just that.

This website will tell you about the lagoon's ecological values and history, the restoration project, and how YOU can help make this restoration a success.

Marin County Open Space District's web page for the Bolinas Lagoon Ecosystem Restoration Project has information on project status and makes available various contracts and reports.
