Lagoon Hosts Rare Visitor (winter/spring 2001)

There has been a most unusual visitor to Bolinas Lagoon this year. A Greater Sand Plover has been spotted and identified by staff from Point Reyes Bird Observatory. This visitor is the first of its kind ever recorded in the western hemisphere, and another example of the important synergy that exists between Bolinas Lagoon and its neighbors.

For more information about this unusual bird, visit this page by San Francisco City College ornithology instructor Joe Morlan.
